Naukkarinen is a four-time World Indoor Rowing Champion, ten-time World Championship medalist, and Finnish Olympic contender. At the heart of this collaboration is the ATMAS Shelter CO₂ Scrubber System. This compact, high-performance carbon dioxide removal technology was originally engineered for civil defence shelter environments. It is now deployed to optimize the air quality conditions in which Naukkarinen trains, recovers, and sleeps as he prepares for the Olympic Games.

The ATMAS Shelter CO₂ Scrubber System was designed to solve one of the most demanding challenges in civil defence engineering: maintaining breathable, performance-grade air quality inside sealed shelter environments without reliance on continuous external ventilation. In blast-protected or NBC-sealed shelters, managing CO₂ build-up is a critical life-safety requirement. About Joel Naukkarinen
Joel Naukkarinen (born 1993, Kouvola) is a competitive rower and a multiple World and European Championship medalist in both indoor rowing and coastal rowing. Trained as a physician and doctoral researcher in neurology, Naukkarinen applies a science-based approach to optimizing athletic performance through his self-developed Training Center Concept. This concept allows him to adjust and set the special environmental conditions in various ways, including the ability to reduce CO₂ levels. He is currently preparing for Olympic qualification, with the goal of winning a gold medal in coastal rowing at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
