Atmas have just released our new line of CO2 Scrubbers, including a standalone scrubber for small to medium shelter (with the capacity of 1500L CO2 per cartridge) and larger filters (with the capacity of up to 18,000L per filter).
The carbon dioxide (CO2) removal systems and filters were developed in cooperation with a leading manufacturer of CBRN filtration systems and collective protection solutions Arconik Such scrubbers are important part of air regeneration in shelters and protected spaces which operate in lockup mode and used for removal of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air, which is released during human respiration, helping to maintain safe levels of CO2 in the protected area.
This line of products specially designed for use in civil defence shelters, private bunkers, industrial and commercial facilities and can be also used in other areas and applications like spaces with limited ventilation and air replacement like cellars and underground spaces, sport facilities, industrial applications, rescue chambers in mining and many more.
Why CO2 and Closeup Mode in Shelters is Important
Often overlooked is the issue of CO2 accumulation in shelters, which starts with fatigue and disorientation, but can develop to fainting and even death...
While during normal shelter operation with sufficient ventilation and filtration system, there should not be any accumulation of CO2, there are several conditions when the shelter should be sealed, temporarily, with no fresh air and that would quickly result in rapidly increasing levels of CO2.
Such conditions can include:
Fires around the shelter- caused by the explosions, uncontrolled fires will occur, and the ventilation\filtration system may bring into the shelter air with lack of oxygen, as well as with unknown chemicals (of the burning materials).
High CBRN concentration- this is a common military protocol, to seal the shelter at the start of a CBRN event, until they identify the contaminates and also allowing the concentration levels to decrease (naturally, by the wind). This will also extend the lifetime of the CBRN filter.
Floods and potentially high level of water which can enter the air openings and damage the CBRN filtration systems
and other reasons.
